A UOC church caught fire in Bukovynian Toporivtsi
A violation of safety regulations during repair work led to a fire in the church dome.
In the village of Toporivtsi, Chernivtsi region, a dome of a church caught fire as a result of repair work being carried out. Rescuers managed to extinguish the fire promptly and prevented it from spreading to the entire building. This was reported by the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi region.
The fire broke out on July 23, 2026, when electric cutting work was being carried out in the church. Eyewitnesses noticed the flames in the area of the dome in time and immediately called the State Emergency Service. Thanks to the timely arrival of firefighters, the fire was extinguished within a small area.
Specialists of the Main Directorate of the State Emergency Service in Chernivtsi region cited a violation of fire safety regulations when using construction tools as the preliminary cause of the incident. As a result of the incident, the fire partially damaged the roof of the church.
As the UOJ reported, the place of worship of a persecuted UOC community in Novosilky, Kyiv region, was set on fire.
