TRC abducts 58-year-old UOC priest in Kalush
Police took the 58-year-old UOC priest from Kalush to a TRC under the pretext of filing a complaint, where he is now being held despite suffering from heart problems.
On July 23, 2026, police took 58-year-old Archpriest Volodymyr Pryimak, a cleric of the UOC Ivano-Frankivsk Eparchy, to a TRC following an incident outside his home in Kalush, Pershyi Kozatskyi reports.
According to the source, a man under the influence of drugs entered the priest’s property. He caused a disturbance, threw stones at Father Volodymyr and his car, and released the goats the priest kept in his yard.
After police arrived, officers asked Father Volodymyr to accompany them, supposedly so that he could file a complaint against the intruder. However, instead of drawing up a report on the unlawful entry, they took him to the Territorial Recruitment Center.
UOC parishioners believe the priest may have been taken to the TRC deliberately. According to the latest information, Father Volodymyr, who suffers from heart problems, is being held at a military processing center.
Earlier, at the beginning of the war, the UOC Church of St. John in the town of Dolyna, where Archpriest Volodymyr Pryimak served, was closed by local activists.
As previously reported by the UOJ, lawyers appealed to the State Bureau of Investigation and the police over the abduction of a UOC cleric by TRC officers in Lutsk.
