Baptists from Ukraine open 160 churches in European countries, report says
The ECMI Director said that Ukrainian refugees are using their stay abroad for missionary work.
Ukrainian displaced persons have opened 160 new religious communities in European countries. As reported by the ECMI, over the past four years refugees from Ukraine have taken on the role of missionaries across the entire European continent.
After attending a specialized conference in Poland, ECMI Director for Strategic Partnerships Jim Memory said he was impressed by the resilience of believers amid the crisis. Among Baptists alone, 160 new congregations have been established across different parts of Europe.
The organization stated that Ukrainians refuse to see themselves solely as victims of circumstance. On the contrary, many of them have come to understand their stay abroad as a Divine calling to preach among the peoples of Europe.
The authors of the report compared the current situation to the events described in the Acts of the Apostles, when persecution of the first Christians contributed to the spread of the faith. According to mission representatives, the displaced persons brought with them not only emotional trauma but also prayerful zeal and a desire for evangelization. ECMI concluded that through the suffering of people, God continues to build new communities and to transform tragedy into testimony.
As the UOJ reported, Ukrainian Baptists published a list of forcibly mobilized fellow believers.
