The Foreign Ministry stated that due to the war, it cannot guarantee the safety of foreign pilgrims during Rosh Hashanah.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has urged Hasidic pilgrims to refrain from visiting Uman. The ministry officially stated that it is unable to guarantee the safety of foreign nationals amid ongoing hostilities.

In its official statement, the Foreign Ministry emphasized that regular missile strikes, sabotage, and terror pose a real threat to human life. The authorities urged believers planning to make a pilgrimage for Rosh Hashanah to take into account the risks associated with the inability to ensure adequate protection under current conditions. Those who decide to come despite the warnings were reminded of the martial law regime in effect.

The foreign policy ministry drew attention to a number of restrictions that pilgrims are required to observe on the territory of the country. Ukraine has a curfew in place, enhanced patrols, and a strict ban on any mass events and gatherings. Law enforcement will apply coercive measures to those who violate the established rules.

Officials also acknowledged serious infrastructure problems in Uman itself. The areas where large numbers of pilgrims gather lack sufficient bomb shelters and civil protection facilities. In addition, the city faces a shortage of medical facilities and personnel to serve the large number of visitors.

Additional difficulties may arise when crossing the border. The Foreign Ministry warned of overloaded ground transportation and possible transport delays due to strikes on infrastructure. Pilgrims are advised to contact the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the border service, or the city authorities of Uman for clarification.

As the UOJ reported, DESS discussed preparations for the Hasidic pilgrimage to Uman.
