Employees of the Office of the President, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Institute of National Memory organized the exhumation of Konovalets's remains in Rotterdam.

The remains of the founder of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN), Yevhen Konovalets, will be brought to the Kyiv cathedral of the UGCC for a farewell ceremony. This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The ashes of the nationalist movement leader, exhumed from a cemetery in Rotterdam, will be transported to Ukraine for subsequent reburial. Previously, the remains of Colonel Konovalets rested at the Rotterdam cemetery "Kralingse Veer" (Crooswijk).

The exhumation procedure was organized on the instructions of President Volodymyr Zelensky by Kyrylo Budanov and the team of the Office of the President, Andrii Sybiha and the team of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as well as Oleksandr Alferov and the team of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory. After the farewell ceremony at the Patriarchal Cathedral of the Resurrection of Christ of the UGCC, the ashes of Konovalets will be reburied at the National Military Memorial Cemetery.

Yevhen Konovalets was born in 1891, served in the Austrian army, and in the 1910s commanded the corps of Sich Riflemen and received the rank of colonel in the army of the Ukrainian People's Republic. In 1929, he co-founded the OUN and led the organization. After Konovalets was killed in Rotterdam as a result of a terrorist attack in 1938, his closest associate Andriy Melnyk took over as head of the OUN.

As the SPJ reported, the remains of OUN (M) leader Melnyk were brought to the UGCC cathedral in Kyiv.
