Protestant chaplain calls killing of Sviatohirsk monk "self-defense"
Protestant chaplain Oleh Lebedinsky called the killing of a monk of the Sviatohirsk Lavra the result of "self-defense" by AFU servicemen. The chaplain wrote about this on Facebook, while commenting on a post by 1kozaktv.
The post stated that, as a result of an attack on the monks of the Sviatohirsk Lavra, one monk was killed and two others sustained serious injuries. Lebedynsky openly supported the attackers, stating that every AFU serviceman is "holier" than the slain monk, whom he described as a "draft dodger who was waiting for Russian troops to come."
"I consider an attack on AFU soldiers to be an attack on me personally. Anyone who opposes the Ukrainian army should be imprisoned or exchanged for Ukrainian soldiers. Glory to Jesus Christ and the Ukrainian Armed Forces! Every AFU soldier is holier than this draft dodger, who was hiding in the monastery and waiting for the Ruscists,” Lebedynsky wrote.
As the UOJ reported, lawyer Robert Amsterdam demanded an independent investigation into the killing of the monk at the Sviatohirsk Lavra. The attack on the monastery in the Donetsk region drew condemnation from representatives of Local Orthodox Churches and other denominations, as well as from people around the world.
