Rivne Eparchy holds a congress of priests’ wives
Metropolitan Pimen discussed family values and the role of a priest’s wife in parish life with the spouses of clergymen.
On June 5, 2026, the second congress of priests’ wives of the UOC’s Rivne Eparchy was held at the skete dedicated to St. Spyridon of Trimythous and St. Nektarios of Aegina. About 30 wives of clergymen from various deaneries of the eparchy took part in the event, the eparchy’s press service reported.
The participants were received by Metropolitan Pimen of Rivne and Ostroh. As tradition holds, the meeting began with common prayer.
The main theme of this year’s forum was family values, Christian marriage, and the special calling of a priest’s wife. Metropolitan Pimen stressed that the matushka is the priest’s closest helper, and that the spiritual health of the parish community largely depends on the atmosphere of love and peace in the clergyman’s family.
Lectures for the participants were delivered by Archpriest Oleksandr Zhuk, Archpriest Ioann Diachuk, and psychologist Olena Korol. The speakers addressed Christian marriage, the upbringing of children, the causes of divorce, and the pressing challenges of modern life. At the end of the meeting, the hierarch personally prepared lunch for the matushkas and presented them with souvenirs.
The eparchy noted that such meetings help strengthen Orthodox families, encourage the exchange of experience among priests’ wives, and preserve traditional Christian values.
