Reserve calls for increased donations to restore Dormition Cathedral
After the strike on the main cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, the Reserve administration reported a shortage of funds and the continuation of the official donation collection.
The National Reserve "Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra" has called for for more active donations to restore the Dormition Cathedral, which was damaged as a result of a Russian strike on June 15, 2026, as reported on the official Facebook page of the institution.
According to the Reserve, emergency works following the shelling were carried out by the State Emergency Service, while materials for the temporary covering of the cathedral were provided by benefactors at a cost of over 2 million hryvnias. At present, according to the administration, preparations are underway for the next stage — the conservation of the shrine — for which approximately 30 million hryvnias from the reserve fund of the state budget are planned to be requested.
Officials stated that, in parallel, negotiations with international partners regarding support for further restoration works are underway. Since the strike on the Lavra, around 100 official delegations have visited the shrine, each of which, according to the administration, expressed readiness to assist in the restoration of the damaged cathedral.
At the same time, the Reserve emphasized that the official collection of donations for the restoration of the Dormition Cathedral is ongoing. To date, as stated by the administration of the National Reserve, 4.4 million hryvnias have been raised.
Thus, following the initial emergency works, the Reserve has once again effectively appealed to the public with a call to financially support the restoration of the main church of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Previously, the UOJ reported that the roof of the Dormition Cathedral, damaged in the shelling, was covered with potective sheeting.
