Zelensky: Agreement reached with Switzerland on restoration of Lavra cathedral
Switzerland will fund the restoration of the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra.
Volodymyr Zelensky announced that during a meeting with the President of Switzerland, the parties reached an agreement on supporting the "priority steps for the restoration" of the shrine. According to him, it is now important that the "full result be properly ensured."
The Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine will be responsible for the further reconstruction of the cathedral. As Zelensky emphasized following the report by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko, protective works have already been carried out at the site. "The roof of the cathedral has been covered to prevent the condition of the building from deteriorating due to weather conditions," the head of state declared.
In addition, Minister Klymenko reported on the elimination of the consequences of shelling in various regions and the organization of security along the northern sections of the border by the National Guard and the Border Service.
As a reminder, the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra was damaged as a result of a drone strike. Specialists from the State Emergency Service carried out conservation work on the most damaged sections of the church in order to prevent the destruction of the architectural monument.
