In Sweden, a mosque map was launched to monitor the spread of Muslims
The Sweden Democrats added 238 mosques and prayer rooms to a migration map, stating the need to monitor their funding.
On June 26, 2026, it became known that the Sweden Democrats party expanded its online migration map by adding a filter with mosques and Muslim prayer rooms across the country, reports The European Conservative.
According to MEP Charlie Weimers, the new feature shows 238 mosques and places of prayer. The map also indicates their religious affiliation and, where known, sources of funding.
Weimers stated that Swedes have the right to understand how Islam is spreading in the country. He emphasized that the map does not claim to provide an exact count of all mosques, but serves as an overview that will be supplemented using open data and information from citizens.
The politician linked the growing number of mosques to migration and stated that Sweden is undergoing a process of Islamization. He expressed particular concern over possible foreign funding of Islamic centers from Qatar, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia.
Weimers also rejected accusations that publishing the map could pose threats to Muslim communities. Previously, he had already proposed in the European Parliament to halt the construction of new mosques, arguing that authorities should respond more strictly to institutions linked to radicalization and foreign influence.
