A two-day course of lectures on psychology and the history of Orthodoxy has begun at the UOC monastery.

On July 3, a summer session of the Distance Education Center for laity of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church opened at Horodok Monastery in Rivne region, the UOC Information Center reports.

Over two days, instructors from Kyiv’s theological schools, project curators, and graduates of the Center will work with the faithful. The program includes classes in Orthodox psychology, the history of the Church in Ukraine, and comparative theology. Special attention will be given to rehabilitation work with people who need particular support and spiritual care.

Lectures for the students will be delivered by KDAiS professors Mykola Suprun and Oleksandr Nartiuk. In addition to classes, the session will include final assessment and exams, after which the Center’s graduates will be solemnly awarded diplomas.

The Distance Education Center was created to prepare laity for responsible Church service and to strengthen parish life. Its curriculum combines theological, pedagogical, and psychological disciplines, and also includes the study of various religious and pseudo-religious movements.

The knowledge and practical skills gained are intended to help believers take an active part in the social and educational work of their communities for the benefit of the Church.

As the UOJ reported, a conference on distinguishing faith and psychology was held in the Volyn Eparchy.
