Volodymyr persecuted community of Dormition Church marks its patronal feast
The Volodymyr community of the UOC continues to hold services in temporary facilities following the seizure of the Dormition Cathedral.
On August 30, 2026, the UOC community of the Dormition Cathedral in Volodymyr celebrated its patronal feast in a temporarily adapted facility following the state’s seizure of the church, according to a post on the Facebook page of the Volodymyr-Volyn Eparchy, reports "Pershyi Kozatskyi."
The festive service was led by Metropolitan Volodymyr of Volodymyr-Volynskyi. Despite the loss of the cathedral, the parish continues its regular prayer and liturgical life.
During the Liturgy, the clergy and faithful prayed for peace in Ukraine, the preservation of the lives of soldiers, the blessing of Ukrainian families, and the spiritual strengthening of the parish community.
The Volodymyr-Volynskyi Eparchy of the UOC noted that even in the temporary premises, the patronal feast brought parishioners together for common prayer and the Eucharist. The eparchy emphasized that the seizure of the cathedral has not stopped the church life of the community.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that a new altar was consecrated in a UOC church in Svaliava in Zakarpattia.
