Lotysh: After Lavra shelling, we established close contact with MinCulture
Avraamiy Lotysh thanked the culture minister for her role in preserving the Dormition Cathedral..
The OCU’s “abbot” of the Lavra, Avraamiy Lotysh, said the damage to the Dormition Cathedral enabled him to establish direct cooperation with the Ministry of Culture. In an interview with TSN, he admitted that before the fire incident, he had lacked proper communication with the ministry.
Lotysh thanked Minister Tetiana Berezhna for her involvement in the fate of the cathedral and stressed that the tragedy had become an occasion to strengthen administrative ties. “I would like to thank our minister, Tetiana Berezhna, who also took a direct part in ensuring that the Dormition Cathedral was preserved.”
“In fact, that incident, so to speak, made it possible to establish both communication and a direct line with the ministries in various areas,” Avraamiy said. He also noted that such direct state contact is extremely important for the “holy monastery.”
As the UOJ reported, a court imposed a measure of restraint on the former culture minister who had threatened the Lavra monks.
