The Hertsa District Court postponed the hearing in the case of Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) until August 26.

The Hertsa District Court of Chernivtsi region postponed the hearing in the case of Metropolitan Longin of Bancheny until August 26, 2026, cvnews.cv.ua reports.

The hearing was postponed because the hierarch of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was unable to take part in the proceedings as he is undergoing treatment in Romania.

During the online broadcast of the hearing, Judge Nadiia Kostyshyn asked why Metropolitan Longin had left Ukraine despite knowing the scheduled date of the court session.

The defense attorney explained that the hierarch, who has heart problems, was in Romania when his health deteriorated.

Asked by the court when the metropolitan would be able to return to Ukraine, the lawyer was unable to provide a specific date.

Earlier, the UOJ reported that on September 23, 2025, another hearing in the Hertsa District Court in the case of Metropolitan Longin (Zhar) was interrupted after his health deteriorated. During the hearing, he suffered a hypertensive crisis.
