Yelensky told the Danish Church Council about the implementation of the law against the UOC
The head of the SSES attempted to justify the law against the UOC before the Secretary General of the Danish Church Council.
The head of the SSES Viktor Yelensky discussed restrictions against the UOC with foreign guests. The official attempted to convince Emil Saggau, Secretary General of the Danish Church Council, of the justification for Ukraine's Law "On the Protection of the Constitutional Order in the Sphere of Religious Organizations' Activities."
During negotiations in Kyiv, the official elaborated on the practical mechanisms for applying the law on the protection of the constitutional order in the ecclesiastical sphere. Yelensky claimed that the European community's concerns regarding the closure of parishes, the seizure of property, and the complete liquidation of the UOC are allegedly groundless speculation.
In addition to discussing legislative initiatives, the parties touched upon issues of social ministry by various confessions under wartime conditions. The head of the agency told the Danish guest about the humanitarian aid that religious communities provide to Ukrainian servicemen, internally displaced persons, and socially vulnerable segments of the population.
Secretary General Emil Saggau familiarized the Ukrainian side with the activities of Danish religious associations and projects within the framework of the World Council of Churches. The foreign representative confirmed his readiness to develop bilateral contacts in the humanitarian and informational spheres. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Danish delegate assured the organizers of the unwavering support of his country's religious communities.
Earlier, the UOJ reported that Yelensky told the World Council of Churches about the law banning the UOC.
