Pochaiv Lavra calls for fasting ahead of Kyiv Metropolia court hearing
The Pochaiv Lavra Spiritual Council called on the faithful to unite in prayer and fasting from October 5 through 7.
The Spiritual Council of the Pochaiv Lavra called on the brethren, pilgrims and faithful to devote October 5, 6 and 7 to fervent prayer and fasting ahead of a court hearing on the termination of the activities of the UOC Kyiv Metropolia. The appeal was published on the monastery’s Telegram channel.
“At a time when the Holy Church is undergoing this trial, the Spiritual Council of the Holy Dormition Pochaiv Lavra advises spending October 5, 6 and 7 in fasting and intensified prayer. The reason is the court hearing scheduled for October 7... which may also affect the fate of our holy monastery.”
The monastery called on all faithful children of the Church to unite in a common spiritual effort.
“We call on everyone – the brethren, pilgrims and faithful children of the Church – to offer sincere prayer to the Lord, asking for His mercy and intercession. May our common spiritual effort become an offering so that the Lord may strengthen and preserve His Holy Church and our holy monastery.”
Earlier, the Sixth Administrative Court of Appeal in Kyiv postponed consideration of the State Service for Ethnopolitics and Freedom of Conscience (DESS) lawsuit against the UOC Kyiv Metropolia until October 7, 2026. The hearing was adjourned because the court needed to review numerous petitions filed by parishioners in defense of the Metropolia.
As reported by the UOJ, lawyers continue to accept statements to defend the Kyiv Metropolis in court.
