Serbian president visits Transfiguration Monastery in Kozji Dol
Aleksandar Vučić visited the Orthodox monastery in Kozji Dol and discussed the situation of Serbs in the south of the country.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić visited the Monastery of the Transfiguration of the Lord in Kozji Dol during a trip to the Pčinja District. This was reported by the Serbian edition of UOJ.
The president was welcomed by Metropolitan Pahomije of Vranje, Nun Ksenija, who oversees the monastery, as well as clergy from the area around Trgovište. The monastery is a dependency of the historic Monastery of St. Prohor of Pčinja. After touring the monastery church, Aleksandar Vučić and Metropolitan Pahomije held talks on the life and preservation of the Serbian population in the south of the country.
They paid particular attention to the situation and living conditions of Serbs in the Preševo and Bujanovac areas. They also discussed the role of the Monastery of St. Prohor of Pčinja in the spiritual life of the Vranje region. The two sides spoke about preserving the monastery’s spiritual, historical and cultural heritage, as well as plans to restore the Vranje residence within the monastery complex.
As the UOJ reported, the Church and the Serbian authorities previously agreed to establish an Orthodox university in Serbia.
